The Cyclops!
I remember seeing the 7th voyage on TV when I was about five years old. Without exaggeration, it was an experience that obliterated every preconception I had of the world up to that point. For years afterwards, I wondered what the hell that miraculous movie was, which I didn't even know the title to.
Luckily, Starlog magazine clued me in to Harryhausen in the late 70s/early 80s. Thanks, Starlog!

That name has been bothering me since I first saw Monsters, Inc. Thank you for connecting it to something!

You're welcome.
I remember that reference too, but it just occurred to me that one of the lead characters of Monsters Inc was also a cyclops. So I guess it was a double reference, for both animated monsters, and cyclopses.

Coincidence...I just bought Harryhausen's "An Animated Life" and got his autograph on my DVD of Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger.

Agreed!
I just got 7th Voyage from amazon.ca. There was an additional documentary, "The Harryhausen Chronicles" that I didn't expect. It was great!
