I thought I'd wander in the forest a bit and take some pics. A small, isolated forest is a safe place to walk, right? There might be a few deer and rabbits in there, but what's the worst they can do?

Still, it was midnight. The footpath was pitch-dark only ten feet in. Some glowing eyes looked at me, then vanished. The underbrush swayed a bit... something moved!

The sum total of the experience bypassed the logical parts of my brain, and triggered some ancient emotions that evolved millions of years ago, back when wandering in the forest at night was a distinctly illogical thing to do.

I don't consider myself a scaredy-cat, but the fear was there. It was the type of fear that made my chuckle and ask, "what the hell am I afraid about?" But the fear was still there.

I walked about 10 feet in, took another picture (which showed nothing after a 15 sec exposure) then turned back. Not only was I deathly a-feared, but I couldn't see a damn thing! (Next time I'll have to remember to bring a flashlight.)
