I processed this by applying a "pseudo" red filter. It's like taking a B&W photo through a red filter, but still getting all the colors.

To do this you have to decompose the image into RGB and HSV channels, then you compose a new HSV image using the hue and saturation channels for the HS components (as expected), but then you use the red channel for the value (brightness).

This will have the effect of darkening blues and greens, and brightening reds.

The image is a little more grainy than the original. That's because the red channel, which is now the brightness component, has a lower resolution due to the Bayer pattern of the camera CCD. In fact, the red and blue channels have half the resolution of the green channel.
