Believe it or not, that solitary pole is a work of art titled "Poll," by Germaine Koh. It was placed on a trodden footpath, to symbolize something or other. Of course, nobody uses that footpath anymore (probably because there's a damn pole in the way), but it's still maintained to keep grass and weeds off the dirt. For the longest time I thought it was an old fencepost that somebody forgot to remove. Taken at the U of Manitoba by the Russell Building. Koh's official site can be found HERE. Thanks, Gord, for informing me of this artwork. Info: 1/60sec, f1.4, 800 ISO generic brand film, handheld, Yashica FX-3 Super 2000, Zeiss Planar T* 50mm f/1.4. |
