They were mercury when I was a kid, I remember the blue lighting giving people a ghastly look. Then I think they switched over to sodiums about 20 years ago. I remember reading a letter to the WFP in which Stephen Juba gave a short rant about how pathetic sodiums were. Not sure why they switched, maybe it was cheaper? I believe low pressure sodiums are cheaper to run than mercury lights. Plus they pop on faster. Mercury vapour lights can take a while to vapourize the mercury.. Andrew @ 2010-02-16 09:20:35
